Lists as a discussion tool
EditIntroduction
ALT.NET has several internet based mailing lists where discussions abound around ALT.NET topics. Here are the current offerings:
EditGeneral Groups
- Alt.net Yahoo Group
- A list to discuss different topics that go along with the alt.net idea. A recent creation built as a result of the rename of the original group.
- Alt.net Google Group
- Microsoft is great, but they only take you so far - and in a lot of cases, the wrong direction. It’s the principles and knowledge that really matter. The best tools are those that embed the knowledge and encourage the principles. This is a group for that. Agile, OSS, etc. for .NET. A group created early in the ALT.NET history as an alternative to Yahoo Groups.
- CLI Dev Yahoo Group (deprecated)
- Conversation about software design and development using common language infrastructure tools, frameworks, and runtimes from commercial vendors and open source projects alike; progressive approaches to software design, architecture, coding, process, and organization. The original altnetconf list renamed in December 2007 in order to be less connected with the original Austin conference.
EditLocalised Groups
- Alt.net South Africa
- The purpose of this group is to bring together South African developers who are following the international ALT.NET discussions. The idea is not to replace or duplicate the international community but to create a local space where we can collaborate to discuss the things that affect us in a Southern African (and African) context.
- ALT.NET German
- Discussions about ALT.NET in German language. The purpose is, like the South African group, to bring German speaking developers together.
- ALT.NET Paris/Francophone
- pareil qu'au dessus mais en français
